#Today I wanna write about a Korean Drama, Thank You. I saw this drama for the first time in 2007 when I was in my last semester in college. At that time, I prefer watched this drama than I did my essay. 😅😅😅

From this drama, I knew Jang Hyuk, Gong Hyo Jin, and Shin Sung Rok for the first time.

I like this drama. When I saw the trailer for the first time on TV, directly I fell in love with this drama, and I said to myself that I should watch it. Yup, it was a good drama with a simple storyline but I like it. 😄😄😄

Thank You (Korean: 고맙습니다; RR: Gomapseupnida) is a 2007 South Korean television series starring Jang Hyuk, Gong Hyo-jin, Seo Shin-ae, Shin Sung-rok, and Shin Goo. It aired on MBC from March 21 to May 10, 2007, on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 21:55 for 16 episodes.

The drama was actor Jang Hyuk's successful comeback after his mandatory military service and draft-dodging scandal. He gained the empathy of viewers after portraying a self-centered doctor whose life changes when he meets a single mother and her HIV-positive daughter.

Doctor Min Gi-Seo (Jang Hyuk) is a surgeon whose wealthy background and superior talent cause him to be arrogant and curt with others. But when his girlfriend Ji-min (Choi Kang-hee) dies of cancer after he failed to save her on the operating table, he is haunted by her confession that she had unwittingly given a young girl HIV via a contaminated blood transfusion when she was a medical intern years ago and never owned up to her mistake. Grieving and needing to make amends on Ji-min's behalf, Gi-seo searches for the child Bom (Korean for "spring") and finds her living on Pureun-do ("Blue Island"). The precocious eight-year-old Bom (Seo Shin-ae) is innocently unaware of her condition, and she lives happily with her mother Young-shin (Gong Hyo-jin), and her great-grandfather Mr. Lee (Shin Goo) who's always wandering off and loves choco pie. Ever since Bom's diagnosis, Young-shin has worked hard to care for her daughter and senile grandfather, keeping a strong face and cheery front despite their poor circumstances and the difficulties of being a single mother. Young-shin has always been mum about Bom's paternity, but in the small community of Pureun-do, rumors are rife that the father is Choi Seok-Hyun (Shin Sung-rok), son of the richest woman (Kang Boo-Ja) in town. Seok-Hyun currently resides in Seoul with his fiancée (Kim Sung-Eun), until work-related matters take him back to the island for the first time in a decade. Upon seeing Young-shin again, Seok-Hyun had no idea that she'd had a child and doesn't believe her assertions that Bom isn't his. As their paths continue to cross, he becomes jealous of Gi-seo and realizes that he isn't quite over her. Meanwhile, to keep an eye on Bom, Gi-seo decides to rent a room at Young-shin's house. At first, he mocks the seemingly backward, rural day-to-day life on Pureun-do, but as he observes the Lee family and their constant kindness and selflessness at close quarters, Gi-seo finds himself slowly changing and falling in love with Young-shin. But when the townspeople later learn that Bom has HIV, they must all deal with the fear and discrimination that follows.

Jang Hyuk reportedly studied the 1998 film Christmas in August in preparation for his role. He said at the press conference, "I want to delicately express a man who is transformed by love. [...] This drama deals with the disease HIV/AIDS, but it is also a story of hope and miracles."

Jang and Gong Hyo-jin previously starred together in the 2001 film Volcano High. This was also Gong's second collaboration with writer Lee Kyung-hee, after the 2003 drama Sang Doo! Let's Go to School.

Choi Kang-hee, who made a cameo appearance in episode 1, was dating director Lee Jae-dong at the time (they had previously worked together on the 2004 drama Sweet Buns).

Director Lee Jae-dong spent weeks searching for the ideal shooting location for the fictional Pureun-do ("Blue Island"). He settled on Jeungdo, Sinan County, South Jeolla Province, which is located on the Korean east coast. Young-shin and Bom's house in the TV series was specifically chosen by Lee, and renovations were made to the house with permission from the town residents.

Compared to its competition in the same timeslot, The Devil (KBS2) and Witch Yoo Hee (SBS), Thank You premiered quietly to little hype or pre-show buzz due to lead actor Jang Hyuk's draft-dodging scandal. But it unexpectedly rose to number one in its timeslot, making Jang's comeback a success.

Apart from the cast and writer Lee Kyung-hee who won recognition at the MBC Drama Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards, respectively, the TV series also received the Special Media Award from Amnesty International. The drama was recognized for "its frank, yet sensitive portrayal of a young HIV patient and her family and friends; it dealt with a touchy subject that had not been broached in other TV dramas and taught the audience to respect AIDS patients and other underprivileged members of our society."

A Chinese remake titled Angel's Happiness (天使的幸福) aired in 2017, starring Ming Dao and Cecilia Liu.

The Thieves (Korean: 도둑들; RR: Dodukdeul; MR: Todukdŭl) is a 2012 South Korean heist film directed by Choi Dong-hoon with an ensemble cast.

With over 12.9 million ticket sales, the action comedy is the sixth highest-grossing film in Korean film history.

A cat burglar named Yenicall (Jun Ji-Hyun) seduces the owner of Leesung Gallery (Shin Ha-Kyun) and steals a rare artifact with the help of three other criminals: Popeye (Lee Jung-Jae), the leader, Zampano (Kim Soo-Hyun), the assistant, and Chewing Gum (Kim Hae-sook), a middle-aged conwoman. They are visited by a detective (Ju Jin-mo) shortly after and realize that staying in Korea is too dangerous. They decide to join a heist led by a master thief named Macau Park (Kim Yoon-Seok), a Korean based in Macau who is also Popeye's former boss. Popeye brings along Pepsee (Kim Hye-soo), a convicted safe-cracker who was recently released on parole. In Hong Kong, Chen (Simon Yam), Jonny (Derek Tsang), and Andrew (Oh Dal-Su) are contacted by Macau Park and agree to enroll as the Chinese part of the team, along with a safe-cracker named Julie (Angelica Lee).

Macau Park reveals the target to be the Tear of the Sun, a valuable diamond in the possession of Tiffany (Yeh Soo-Jung), the mistress of a powerful crime lord named Wei Hong (Ki Gook-seo). The plan is to steal the diamond while Tiffany is visiting a casino in Macau and to sell it back to Wei Hong, a risky venture seeing that Wei Hong is known for murdering whoever offends him. Each team agrees, however, when they find out that the diamond is worth USD 20 million.

It turns out that Julie is really an undercover police officer hoping to arrest Wei Hong. Moreso, both the Chinese and Korean teams are mistrustful of Macau Park. Chen, Johnny, and Andrew plan to ignore the diamond and run off with Tiffany's money, while Popeye and Pepsee have purchased a fake diamond to swap with the real one. A flashback reveals that Macau Park, Popeye, and Pepsee were formerly a team, but Park's cable snapped during an escape as he was rappeling and he ran off with the gold. Pepsee, worried for his safety, inadvertently exposed herself to a security camera, leading to her conviction.

With the help of Tiffany's step-sister, Macau Park lays out the plan. Chen and Chewing Gum are to pose as a Japanese couple and keep Tiffany occupied at the gambling table. Yenical and Zampano are to infiltrate Tiffany's private suite through a window and open the door from the inside. Popeye, Pepsee, and Julie are to enter the suite and open the two safes, one of which allegedly contains the diamond. As this takes place, Johnny and Andrew must enter the security room and hold the guards at gunpoint. All of this has to happen within 10 minutes, after which the police will arrive.

Chen and Chewing Gum find common ground in the Japanese language and end up growing closer. They fall in love over the course of the evening and spend the night together. Zampano, meanwhile, unsuccessfully prods Yenicall for a confession of love. She avoids answering by setting the plan in motion.

As the plan is being executed, the team, to their dismay, discovers that neither of the two safes contains the diamond. As the police rush in, Chen and Chewing Gum try to escape in a car, but Chen is shot dead and the car collides with a wall, killing Chewing Gum. Johnny manages to escape, and so does Yenicall after Zampano surrenders to the police to buy her time. In the commotion, Macau Park, disguised as an old janitor, steals the diamond from a safety deposit box. Popeye, Pepsee, and Andrew are arrested but fight inside the police van. Popeye, Andrew, and the police jump out before the van plunges into a sea. Pepsee, however, is still hand-cuffed and nearly drowns, except that Macau Park suddenly arrives and rescues her.

Pepsee regroups with Popeye, Yenicall, and Andrew, and they force Tiffany's step-sister (who is in fact an actress hired by Macau Park) to reveal Macau Park's place of exchange: the Busan Grand Hotel, located in Busan, South Korea. While the step-sister distracts Macau Park in a cafe, the four break into Macau Park's apartment to search for the diamond. Macau Park reveals that it was Popeye who cut the rappelling cable four years ago because he too was in love with Pepsee. When Macau Park tried to find his way back to them, he discovered the two locked in a passionate kiss. Not realizing that it was Pepsee's way of dealing with his "betrayal", he left. Hearing this via earpiece, Pepsee confronts Popeye and then walks off of the job. Yenicall finishes it by taking the real diamond and replacing it with a fake.

Macau Park meets with Wei Hong, revealing that his main motive is revenge, as Wei Hong killed Macau Park's father. The meeting is raided by the South Korean police and SWAT and multiple gun-fights ensue. Popeye tricks Yenicall into giving him the diamond and then runs away with it, leaving Andrew and Yenicall behind. While running Popeye is hit by a car and the diamond breaks, revealing that this too is a fake, planted by Yenicall.

Pepsee is waiting at Busan Pier and spots Macau Park in the crowd, but Wei Hong arrives to kill him and Julie arrives to arrest Pepsee. After Wei Hong opens fire, Julie turns her attention on Wei Hong and shoots him to death, while Macau Park and Pepsee escape. Pepsee returns to Korea and learns that Yenicall has traveled to Hong Kong again, hoping to find another buyer for the diamond. Pepsee also finds a gift of gold bars left by Macau Park. The story concludes with Pepsee meeting Leesung Gallery's owner, whom Yenicall had seduced, and asking him to buy the diamond. Before the exchange can take place, Macau Park calls Pepsee and reveals that he has infiltrated Yenicall's hotel room and stolen the diamond, and he promises that Pepsee will reunite with him soon.

Casting negotiations began in late 2010, and on March 21, 2011, film distributor Showbox confirmed the star-studded cast in a press release. Director Choi Dong-hoon was quoted: "These are the very actors that inspired me to write what I have for the movie's script starting from its first line. I'm dreaming of creating explosive ensembles that will clash or harmonize within a single movie due to their different styles." Choi later confessed that the thought of directing this group of high-profile actors and actresses was "really scary", but "during filming, I couldn't take my eyes off the monitor because of the charisma of all these actors. Never did it occur to me that they needed to be handled in a certain way. It's just that the screenplay must be fully understood... We talk. Slowly infect them with my thoughts, mixing the individual with the movie's tone and manner."

Calling Choi "a genius who also works extremely hard," actress Kim Hye-soo was in awe when she first read the script, saying, "It was a product of great effort, genius ideas, and a detail-oriented, calculative mind. I think he knows who he is, the exact kind of films that he wants to make, and how to make them. The Thieves proves it."

In comparisons with Ocean's Eleven, the director said he never went into production consciously thinking about the hit Hollywood film. Though similar to it, he thinks The Thieves is actually closer to his previous films The Big Swindle and Tazza: The High Rollers, with the action, featured "invested with more emotion." Kim Yoon-Seok added that contrary to the characters' compatible and harmonious collaboration in Ocean's Eleven, "In The Thieves, we are all over the place, all with our own faults. But I think that you will see through the friendships and love in the film, our unique emotional developments will show through."

After six months of location shoots in Seoul, Busan, Macau, and Hong Kong filming wrapped up on December 7, 2011.

With 436,622 tickets sold on the day of its release, The Thieves recorded the second-highest single-day opening of all time in Korea after The Host opened with 449,500 tickets sold in 2006. On its sixth day of release, it broke the 3 million mark in audience number, drawing 3.35 million viewers. In eight days, the numbers had risen to 4,365,078 tickets, by the eleventh day, it drew 6.2 million viewers, by the thirteenth day, 7 million, and over 8 million by the sixteenth day.

After 22 days, it reached the "magic number" of 10 million viewers, only the sixth film to have done so in Korean film history. Kim Soo-Hyun then fulfilled his public pledge to give a piggyback ride to the 10 millionth ticket holder, a middle school girl.

After reaching over 11 million viewers on its fourth week, it rose to number 4 on the Korean all-time box office charts, beating Haeundae. It then passed 12 million to leapfrog over Taegukgi, and on its sixth week, it's 12.31 million overtook King and the Clown's record to become the second highest-grossing movie in Korean film history.

Though the film's promoter sent out a press release that The Thieves reached 13,020,393 admissions on October 2 (70 days since its opening), making it the highest on the all-time box office chart, the Korean Film Council reported the actual admissions to be at 12,983,334 — leaving the previous record of The Host unbroken.

The distribution rights to the picture were purchased by several countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Vietnam. It made its North American premiere at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and was distributed in the US by Well Go USA Entertainment. Well, Go released it on DVD and Blu-ray on February 12, 2013.

Secretly, Greatly (Korean: 은밀하게 위대하게; RR: Eunmilhage Widaehage) is a 2013 South Korean action comedy-drama film starring Kim Soo-Hyun, Park Ki-Woong, and Lee Hyun-woo, who play North Korean spies who infiltrate South Korea as a village idiot, a rock musician, and a high school student, respectively. They assimilate to small-town life while awaiting their orders, until one day, due to a sudden power shift in the North, their mission turns out to be an order to commit suicide.

The film is based on the 2010 spy webtoon series Covertness by Hun, which has received over 40 million page hits. Upon its release on June 5, 2013, the film broke several box office records in South Korea: the highest single-day opening for a domestic film, most tickets sold in one day for a domestic film, the biggest opening weekend, the highest-grossing webtoon-based film, and the fastest movie to reach the million, two million, three million, and four million marks in audience number. Movie pundits attribute its success to a large percentage of teen audience turnout.

A group of spies called the 5446 Corps were trained by North Korean elite special forces since their youth, ostensibly towards the lofty goal of unifying Korea. With 498,282 tickets sold on the day of its release, Secretly, Greatly recorded the highest single-day opening of all time (by a domestic film) in South Korea, surpassing the record previously held by The Host, which opened with about 450,000 tickets sold in 2006. Within just 36 hours after its release, the film drew 1,011,025 viewers, becoming the fastest movie to reach the million mark in audience number, in the nation. For its second day (which coincided with Korea's Memorial Day holiday), it recorded the largest admissions total for a single day (by a domestic film) with 919,035 viewers. 72 hours after its release, the number of tickets sold for Secretly, Greatly crossed the 2 million border, making it the fastest film to do so. On its fifth day of release, the total ticket sales broke the 3 million mark, as the fastest record of all time. The film recorded the biggest opening weekend with a total of 3,491,294 viewers, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon which opened with 3,356,316 viewers in 2011. It also became the highest-grossing webtoon-based movie in the nation, surpassing 2010 film Moss with 3,408,144 tickets sold.

On its eighth day of release, the film became the fastest movie to reach the 4 million mark in audience number, tied with The Host, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, The Thieves, and Iron Man 3. By the twelfth day, it drew 5 million viewers. In nineteen days, it became the fourth highest-grossing film of 2013 in the nation, behind Miracle in Cell No. 7 (12.32 million), Iron Man 3 (8.99 million), and The Berlin File (7.16 million), garnering over 6.96 million in the audience.

The film was released in multiple territories across Asia and North America.

In North America, it was the centerpiece presentation of the 12th New York Asian Film Festival held on 11 July 2013. Following its festival date, it opened in New York City and Los Angeles on 19 July before rolling out to 10-15 US cities throughout the summer. The 2nd Atlanta Korean Film Festival also screened the film along with several other South Korean films. In addition, the 17th Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal screened the film in mid-July ahead of its 26 July Canadian release date.

In Asia, the film was first screened in Singapore starting on 18 July before opening in Taiwan on 26 July 2013. It then expanded across the region during the season with runs in Japan, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, where Kim made his appearance for the local premiere in late July. Deals were also brokered with China and Thailand. The film was also screened at the 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival and won the NH Nonghyup Citizen’s Choice Award.

In Europe, the film was included at the Signals: How to Survive program section of the 43rd International Film Festival Rotterdam held from 22 January to 2 February 2014.

The Beauty Inside (Korean: 뷰티 인사이드; RR: Byuti Insaideu; lit. "Beauty Inside") is a 2015 South Korean romantic comedy film based on the 2012 American social film The Beauty Inside, about a man who wakes up every day in a different body, starring Han Hyo Joo. It is Baik's feature film debut, after a career directing commercials.

One fateful day, on his eighteenth birthday, Woo-jin wakes up to see a face and body that is not his own. He is very shocked and confused, he confronts his mother about his new appearance and she is also shocked but tearfully accepts him for who he is. With the help of his mother (Mun Suk) and his best friend (Song-beck), Woo-jin is able to cope with his strange condition. Ever since this day Woo-jin, now a furniture designer, wakes up in a different body every day, regardless of age, gender and nationality. Sometimes he's a man, a woman, old, young, or even a foreigner. He can even speak different languages, depending on who he is for the day. He's the same person on the inside, but on the outside, he's always someone new. Looking at a different face in the mirror every morning is hard for him to get used to.

Every morning Woo-jin records himself on his computer, letting himself know who he was that day. And every morning he has to accustom himself to the changes of being a different person. He has to adjust to his new body, eyesight, voice, etc. After many years of changing into different people, Woo-jin has devised a system where he has all sorts of clothes and shoes to fit any and every type of body type, and of course different types of toiletries depending on if he is male or female. He also has a phoropter in order to test his eye vision and a Brannock foot measuring device to measure his feet and use the right-sized shoes.

As a furniture designer Woo-jin is able to work in the privacy of his own home and avoid others from finding out his secret. He is the owner of a furniture company named ALX that specializes on handcraft furniture to meet the needs of each individual person. His best friend Song-beck works with Woo-jin and is the one who takes care of the sales and goes to meet clients in person.

Woo-jin one day develops a crush on a furniture retailer named Yi-soo who works in a furniture store. He begins to visit her every day to see her and occasionally talk to her but she doesn’t realize this because he comes in as someone else each day. He waits until the right day when he is someone handsome (Park Seo-Joon) to finally approach her and ask her out on a date. He succeeded in asking her out and wanted to continue seeing her as the same person. As a result, he went on for a few days without sleep in order to stay as the same person that went out with Yi-soo. Woo-jin inevitably fails to keep the same body due to sleep deprivation and decides to stop contacting Yi-soo because he does not want to reveal his secret to her. However, Yi-soo decides to visit Woo-jin at his home one day and discovers his secret. She is shocked and it takes her some time to comprehend and accept Woo-jin for who he is on the inside.

They remained together and devised a plan to reunite with each other every time Woo-jin transformed. Whenever Woo-jin grabs Yi-soo’s hand she’ll know that it’s him. Or at least that was the idea. Yi-soo, after some time, starts having difficulty with their relationship. She never truly knows who Woo-jin is and has to fully trust that the stranger grabbing her hand is Woo-jin. People begin to gossip about Yi-soo, saying that she is always going out with different men. This pushes her to a breaking point where she relies on medication to be able to cope with her stress, anxiety, and insomnia. In order to help her, Woo-jin decides to disappear from her life.
